Q: How do I find available rentals?
A: Check available rentals at our Welcome Center using the real-time map on the wall, or visit our website at https://www.cheshirecatmarket.com/ for current availability.
Q: How do I rent a shop or market stand?
A: Simply click the mailbox of any available rental. Our bot will automatically invite you to the appropriate group tag so you can rez items. Please accept the invitation.
Q: I was already in the group before renting – why didn’t I get an invitation?
A: If you joined the group prior to renting, you won’t receive an automatic invitation to the renter tag. Please contact our staff to obtain the proper tag.
Q: Where can I find the most current rental rules?
A: While this FAQ covers the basics, our website (https://www.cheshirecatmarket.com/) always has the most up-to-date information and takes precedence over any printed materials.
RENTAL OPTIONS & PRICING
Q: What rental options are available?
A: We offer:
- Market Stands: 50 prims for smaller displays
- Full Shops: 100-300 prims for larger showcases
- Love Table Mats: 15 LI per mat (40 total available) at $10L each
Q: Can I adjust my prim allowance after renting?
A: Yes! We offer both increases and decreases:
- Reductions: Up to 10% reduction (300→270, 200→180, 150→135 prims)
- Increases: Subject to availability
- Note: 100-prim shops and 50-prim market stands cannot be reduced
Q: Can I move to a different shop?
A: Absolutely! Contact our staff and we’ll transfer your remaining rental time to any available location.
PAYMENT & POLICIES
Q: What happens if I’m late with my rent?
A: We offer a generous 72-hour (3-day) grace period. If payment isn’t received and we haven’t heard from you, we’ll consider the shop abandoned and return your items to your Lost & Found folder.
Q: I know I’ll be late with rent – what should I do?
A: Contact us in advance! We’re happy to work with renters who communicate with us.
Q: How does CasperLet handle past due amounts?
A: CasperLet automatically recoups past due amounts, so your payment will reflect this in the rental time added to your box.
Q: Can I get a refund if I leave early?
A: We apologize, but refunds are not available.
Q: How do I end my rental properly?
A: Please indicate “Will not renew” via your rental box – we greatly appreciate this courtesy!
SHOP CUSTOMIZATION
Q: Can I customize my shop’s appearance?
A: Yes! Each shop offers several customization options:
- Building colors: Click the ‘Texture Controls’ switch (includes helpful notecard)
- Lighting: Click the ‘Lighting Controls’ switch (includes helpful notecard)
- Logo sign: Click your shop sign and use the UUID button to upload your logo
Q: Can I decorate outside my shop?
A: Yes! You are free to decorate within reason in front of, or around your shop. Some shops have fenced yards while others do not, so please be respectful of neighboring areas and don’t encroach on other shops.
Q: Are there restrictions on what I can display?
A: Yes, we prohibit:
- Adult furniture
- Animesh, poofers, scripted movers, or particle emitters
- Objects with Glow enabled (use Full Bright instead)
- Non-stop or looping sounds
- Items that affect sim physics or cause high collisions
- Builds on top of rentals or blocking views
LIVE CATS & LOVE TABLES
Q: Can I display live cats in my shop?
A: Yes, but please turn off animations to reduce lag. Use Sit/Lay/Posed positions instead of Walk/Run functions.
Q: How do Love Tables work?
A: Love Tables are available for $10L per mat with these requirements:
- Maximum 2 cats per gender (if space available)
- Cats must have 100% love and be unpartnered
- Cats must have food (sick cats will be removed)
- Place kittens on the correct gender table
- No breeding allowed (this isn’t Discovery Channel!)
- Place food bowls in the designated bin
Q: Where are the Love Tables located?
A: We have two areas:
- Area 1: Mats 01-10
- Area 2: Mats 11-20
AUTOMATED SYSTEMS & ADVERTISING
Q: Can I use automated giver systems?
A: Automated systems that trigger when avatars walk by are prohibited. Giver systems are acceptable only if customers must actively click to initiate them. Exception: Givers triggered by welcome mats placed inside your shop doorway are allowed.
Q: Can I advertise in the group?
A: Yes, renters in good standing can advertise:
- Cats from your Cheshire Cat location
- Your off-sim sales
- Limits: Maximum twice per 24 hours with 12 hours between posts
- Prohibited: Advertising other auctions
- Note: Non-renters cannot advertise in our group
